Nice of you to Drop In

WE do GREAT Fishing

WYNDHAM LAKE. This is our longest established carp water, covering five acres it is heavily stocked with hard fighting commons and very scaly mirrors to big 20’s. A large head of 20 plus fish are present. The fish are all English, many of them Leneys or Leney crosses. (Read about leneys) There are many reed fringed bays, points, bars and an island. There are 16 swims which are large, well spaced and comfortable and night fishing is allowed. The fish respond to both surface and bottom tactics. The fishing is more challenging than Pads Lake, but the fish are, on average, much larger.

If you intend fishing Wyndham Lake it is essential that you read and familiarise yourself with the carp angling section of our SITE RULES. Tickets for Wyndham and Pads lakes are £10.00 per day.

PADS LAKE. Three acres in size and bordered by beds of Norfolk reeds and mature alders, the Pads lake is our “runs water”.Well stocked with both scaley mirrors and commons, it generally provides easier fishing than Wyndham and is ideal for the less experienced angler, or those who simply like getting lots of action. Small frozen boilies or method tactics over beds of pellet work well. Night fishing is allowed.

If you intend fishing Pads Lake it is essential that you read and familiarise yourself with the carp angling section of our SITE RULES.

GATE POOL. This is our 30 peg lake dedicated to the pleasure angler. It covers 3 acres with a depth of 4-8 feet, and is doughnut shaped. Fishing is from one bank only. It is heavily stocked with both carp and silver fish, plenty of skimmers, roach and rudd. The carp average 3lb.but run up to doubles, and there are large bream and tench averaging 3-5 lb. this is the only lake on site where you can use a pole and light tackle, but don’t fish too light as there are many big fish in this lake! Night fishing is allowed If you intend fishing Gate Pool it is essential that you read and familiarise yourself with our SITE RULES. Tickets are £6.00 per day.

Alderfen is a three lake day ticket fishing complex set in the peaceful Lincolnshire countryside close to the village of Wroot near to both Doncaster and Scunthorpe. We have two carp lakes (Wyndham and Pads lakes) and a further pleasure angling lake (Gate Pool).

Why do we say “different by design”?. We have a simple philosophy, which is completely focused on the angler. Our aim is to make your fishing as pleasurable and productive as possible. To this end the lakes were designed by anglers with the angler very much in mind.

The Alderfen site itself covers twenty three acres, and the whole site is a nature conservation area. Since we opened the lakes in 2007, we have undertaken a program to improve the habitat. This has involved an extensive planting effort with thousands of native trees being planted and the mass seeding of wildflower species. This is now bearing fruit as the trees have matured, making a more pleasant environment for our anglers and attracting birds and insects that weren’t previously seen on the site. (See photo gallery pictures). We take a great deal of pride in these achievements, and we hope our visitors will appreciate and respect them.

Alderfen was designed and created to form a coarse fishery superior to any other, whether you are a specimen hunter or just like to go fishing occasionally there are facilities at Alderfen to suit you. There are pegs on Gate Pool which suit disabled anglers and there is an on site toilet.  Our bailiffs are extremely knowledgeable and are happy to offer advice on how to make the most of your visit.
